Snowmaking Begins For Return Of Ruby Hill Rail Yard

**Update 02/20/16** This is the LAST WEEKEND that Ruby Hill Rail Yard is open this season…closing day is Wednesday, February 24 (lights on till 9PM). Christy Sports is still offering FREE rental equipment today, tomorrow and Sunday! Come play with us at this wonderful amenity made possible by our generous partners while you can! **Update 01/08/16** The Rail Yard is now open! Christy Sports will be on hand for free equipment rentals every weekend starting Friday the 15th.

Snowmaking began on Monday for the 2016 Ruby Hill Rail Yard opening this month. The Rail Yard is tentatively planned to open the week of January 4th and will be open for six to eight weeks depending on the weather. Check back for more details!

The Ruby Hill Rail Yard is a joint effort between Denver Parks and Recreation, Winter Park Resort, and Christy Sports. As reported by CBS News in their article about the opening, “Winter Park provides the rails and terrain park design along with staff while Christy Sports provides free rental equipment and Denver Parks provides the location and youth programs.”

Free ski and snowboard equipment is available through Christy Sports, which will have on-site volunteers to staff the equipment area. Equipment rentals will be available Fridays from 3 pm to 8 pm, Saturdays from 11 am – 7 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. Parents must be present to sign a release form before equipment will be loaned out to kids aged 8-17.

Ruby Hill Park is open every day from 5 am to 11 pm and the Rail Yard is lit every day from dusk until 9 pm.
